Questions About Dubai Jobs Lost

Sandy asks…

i worked in dubai for 3 years lost job due to crisis now working in another gcc country i had loan and credit?

I worked in dubai for 3 years lost job due to crisis (2008) now in another gcc country (saudi) since 2009 i had loan and credit card not paid will there be any problem in future

admin answers:

No problem! Overseas credit has nothing to do with USA credit. Creditors overseas do not report to the the three credit bureaus. The people in Dubai may find out where you are and try to collect but they don’t report to dubai’s credit agencies either.
You are safe. Forget about it. When you get back to the states they may even try to collect so dispute it based on the requirement by law that says all credit must me reported by companies doing business in the USA not overseas.
Also there is a statute of limitations: four years to seven years

Jenny asks…

what can i do i have no money to pay if i staid in dubai they put me in the prison and i want to know what is the Solution ?tnx

admin answers:

You need to get some local advice.
I can advise about the UK but it won’t be accurate to Dubai.
Debts can follow a UK citizen within the EU and about 40 other countries. I’m sure Dubai will have similar recipriocal arrangements.

I have no idea what the Dubai debt and bankruptcy laws are though, might be an idea for you to find out if you don’t intend to return soon and you don’t this to follow you..

Joseph asks…

how is the economic and general job situation in Dubai?

Just wanted to check whether Dubai has come out of the global recession? I heard from some of my friends that many people are still losing their jobs in Dubai. Is this true??

admin answers:

No country came out of the recession yet. But if effected jobwise will depend pretty much what field you are working in.
Fields not effected are i. E. The medical field, the education sector and many others. Right now you may avoid applying for jobs in the construction and real estate sector unless you choose to work in Abu Dhabi.

Robert asks…

Thinking of moving to Dubai?

Received a job offer – teaching at one of the private schools. I’m based in NZ and have been trying to do alot of research before taking the leap. I’ve been told accomdation is based in South of Dubai. What can I expect from this area? Is rental cheap in this area? cost of living in comparison to NZ? Anything esle I need to know about from the obvious.

thanks heaps.

admin answers:

@SAS: without any offense, but teachers coming from NZ receive a different salary than Indians. See school costs for Western Expats:) The teachers I know (NZ, AUS, USA) make AED 19,000 + and an assistant teacher around AED 7.000.

South Dubai is a new area. I am positive that your salary package includes housing. Western teachers in Abu Dhabi receive around AED100.000 housing allowance which easyli will cover the rent for a studio or one bedroom apt. Rest can be used for transportation if not extra provided.
Living costs can be really cheap if you know what to buy where and depending on your lifestyle. The teachers I know spend most of their salaries on going out. Well that can get costly but can also be avoided.
Local and imported products from GCC, India,Pakistan and Far East are really cheap whereas imported western items are costly. Especially pork and alcohol.
You are your financial manager, you keep an eye on your budget and I bet you’ll be able to live a good life and to save.

Joseph asks…

Hi, am planning to do get my MBA done from New Zealand. Pls. assist?

I chose this place for course cost economics and also for its great natural beauty and quality of living. I wanted to know, which of the universities are better AUT / UoA or Victoria Univ. I, gathered info about all the univs. and found out that UoA does not have a full time MBA program for international students. Further, Victoria batch for 2010 is over. Accordingly, my first choice came to AUT, which offers 6 intakes in a year and the electives are diversified, which suits my needs. What i wanted to ask is AUT a good univ., in terms of job placement and industry relations. Ranking status of AUT is low compared to UoA: what difference would it make in getting a placement and subsequent settlement. As of now i am planning for the oct 2010 intake of AUT. I, am from India and currently resident at Dubai and i am from aviation sector.

Any one from NZ or conversant with the demographics.. Pls. your advice in this regard will be of paramount importance in choosing a proper career.

admin answers:

Before you decide on an MBA program explore the Internet for information on available programs. There is a lot of information available. Some sites are limited to specific countries, such as Germany, UK, or Australia. There is a comprehensive free public service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. The nice thing is that it allows you to find the program that best fits you. It allows you to search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, executive, and accelerated), and by listing your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. Schools report their accreditation status (look for AACSB accreditation or at least AACSB membership), tuition cost, number of students, class sizes, program length, and a lot of other data. Schools provide data on entrance requirements, program costs, program characteristics, joint degrees, joint degrees such as MBA/JD, and much more. You can use it to contact schools of your choice, examine their data, visit their web site, and send them pre-applications. You can see lists of top 40 schools ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and other criteria. Some of the other sites are less comprehensive, but all are useful.

Questions About Dubai Jobs Travel

Charles asks…

Job hunting to Dubai using Tourist/Visit Visa nowadays?

is it advisable nowadays to travel to Dubai as tourist then apply for a job once you arrived there?
is it still easy to do that nowadays?

admin answers:

I wouldn’t advise you to do so because if (big if) you have to exit and re-enter again on an employment entry permit. Also all travel and visa costs and accommodation would need to be paid by you and who knows if you would find a job.

If you look online for a suitable job opening, apply and get hired, your Airfare and visa would be paid for. All hiring costs have to be paid by the employer only and are not deductable of your salary (UAE Law).

A tourist visa is valid for 30 days only and can’t be converted into an employment visa. A visit visa sponsored by a family member is valid for 30/90 days and can be converted into an employment visa.

Please visit the link giving below to find recruitment agencies:

http://www.startpagedubai.com/jobs.htm

Please be aware that there are many people coming to Dubai on a tourist visa to land a job. Few get lucky (depending on profession), many return back home being broke and some stay here as illegals until caught, deported and blacklisted.

Good luck!

Maria asks…

my boyfriend is working in dubai and i want to go with him. is it easy to find a job over there?

im mexican and also him. he is working yet.
i really miss him and i decide to go with him but i know that in dubai is not easy the gay life, neither in couple.
but i really want to be near to him.
i decide to travel to mexico to EAU, but IT´S necesary that i have a job over there, any kind of job.
somebody knows about that.

admin answers:

Dear

You should understand one fact that either gay life or even if you both married legally, you will not be allowed to live together as couple in UAE. Here it is 100% against the law.

If you are holding a US passport, you will get a transit visa from Dubai Airport once you reach here, then you have to find a job from here and stay here on that job visa, and with him (clearly stating that it is against law here that gay life). Or get a job from here before you proceed from there and come on the job visa here (without a sponsor you cant stay here).

All the best
Thx
