General Manager

  5. HR & Administration – Human Resources, Administration, IT

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

·         The General Manager (“GM”) would report to the Managing Director/Board of Directors. The scope of the GM’s responsibility would be vast, including strategy, planning and overseeing/managing execution of the business units and functions as listed above.

·         Support the Board in the strategy development leading the company towards its vision.

·         Develop and control profits, plans, and budgets. Manage P&L statement for the overall company. Develop, steward and protect assets & capital plans of the operation.

·         Develop, manage and maintain the relationships with the respective banking and financial partners of the company. Present and secure the overall company and project financing requirements.

·         Define and implement controls, processes, policies and procedures for the areas involved across the company’s business units and functions.

·         Establish and monitor overall company performance for efficiency and meeting of quality standards.

·         Provide leadership, direction, development of management, strategy and planning with relevant business functions through definition of organization skills, hiring and retaining key employees for appropriate staffing levels to accomplish the company goals and objectives.

·         The analysis, interpretation of “Contracts/Tenders/Requests for Bids” from all authorities, Contractors and sub-contractors in a manner of risk assessment and overall contract and deliverable management. 

·         The monitoring and adherence to all engineering, production and application standards as well as GMP’s.

·         Supervise and coordinate supply chain activities, including the development & management of a global sourcing strategy, vendor performance, and the development of supplier base and strategic partnerships. 

·         Manage and maintain the current product catalogue with incremental improvements in line with customer demands. Ideate, design and build new products including initiating and implementing technology absorption and its integration into the product catalogue in keeping with the company’s business goals.

Professional experience:

·         A minimum of 5 years general management experience.

·         A minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing and project management roles. Preferable in the commercial construction environment.

·         A minimum of 3 years of experience in areas relating to engineering, R&D and design in the industrial design industry. Exposure to R&D including technology transfer related interactions with foreign collaborators.

·         Ability to write, communicate and implement business goals and strategic plans.

·         Effective leadership, decision making, written and oral communication skills to comfortably manage and interface with multiple departments and be responsible for 5+ direct reports and 20+ indirect personnel.

·         Must have strong organizational, analytical and financial skills. Ability to develop, monitor and adhere to operating and sales budgets. Ability to analyze processes, procedures and operations to develop efficiencies and make overall organizational improvements.

·         Must have excellent leadership and general management skills and demonstrated abilities to Lead and develop subordinates and team members, Assure departmental excellence, cross training and continuity, motivate all company employees to maintain quality standards and to achieve operational excellence in a very cost-conscious and competitive environment. Must be result-focused, with a hands on “doer” attitude.

·         Must have proven ability to motivate and manage  sales and marketing teams/efforts in the achievement of established sales and market share goals. Ability to make strong and convincing partner/customer sales presentations. Ability to develop, monitor and achieve strategic marketing and sales plans.

·         Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to effectively manage all communications with Contractors, sub-contractors and other customers. Ability to coordinate the communications and efforts of the sales, project management, supply chain departments to ensure meeting contract schedules & responding to customer requests.  

·         Good industrial understanding and comfort with a manufacturing company’s structure and functioning.

·         Have good R&D Management skills – risk understanding & management, ability to manage a portfolio of projects based on cost benefit ratio, and appropriate resource allocation.

·         An understanding of international market requirements, form and function awareness, and approvals experience. The ability to deal in a multicultural environment with the ability and comfort to travel within The Middle East and abroad.

·         Strong IT/computer skills (Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) , Management Information Systems (MIS), e-mail, Word, Excel, Power Point and Access)

Education

·         Bachelor/Master of Engineering – preferably Electrical/Mechanical, from an institution of repute.

·         An Advanced degree in Management, or an MBA in business.
