Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG) Councils (www.glgcouncils.com) are industry- and discipline-focused networks of consultants, physicians, scientists, engineers, attorneys, market researchers and other professionals from around the world. GLG Council Members enable decision-makers at investment firms, corporations and non-profit organizations to better understand the products, services, companies, issues, and industries on which they focus. On an annual basis, GLG coordinates thousands of in-person meetings and events as a core mechanism for interaction between Council Members and clients.
GLG’s Events Managers manage and leverage Gerson Lehrman Group’s core asset – the Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG) Councils – to participate in small-group meetings, Education Seminars and Master Classes with clients and other GLG Council members.
Requirements
Candidate profile
Potential candidates must possess:
• Three to five years of post-undergraduate experience in positions of increasing responsibility within an event management firm, conference or tradeshow producer, or company in a related field
• Event planning experience, including:
• Operational and logistical management of content-driven events, including small group meetings, conferences, seminars, and other gatherings, including:
• Venue selection, negotiation and management;
• Third-party vendor selection, negotiation and management;
• Budgeting and financial management, with emphasis on project-based profitability and ROI.
• Client-facing and customer service expertise, including effective and professional oral and written communication, as well as confident interpersonal interaction.
• Leadership and management of internal teams engaged in multiple event projects, with strong emphasis on standard-setting and decision-making.
• Development and management of external partners and vendors for multiple event projects.
• Fluency in the use of technology tools to improve effectiveness and increase efficiency. High levels of proficiency with Excel, Access and other database tools are required.
Candidates with the following skills will be preferred:
• • Development and management of content for multiple meeting and event projects, including but not limited to:
• Researching and proposing themes and topics for content-driven live events;
• Authoring content for event materials, including promotional and descriptive copy;
• Managing speaker recruitment, confirmation and management both directly and in collaboration with internal partners, including Research Management and Sales;
• • Development and management of marketing efforts and material, targeting both internal and external audiences, via multiple channels, including but not limited to:
• Event websites
• Online marketing including display and search marketing
• Email marketing
• Direct mail and other direct response vehicles
• Advertising
• Public relations and promotion
• Co-marketing agreements with third-parties
• HTML authoring and editing, as well as website content management
• Familiarity with graphic file editing via Photoshop, Illustrator and similar tools
All candidates must have demonstrated proficiency in basic business skills, including:
• Excellent communication skills, including oral, writing and presentation abilities in a business-focused setting. Strong copywriting and copyediting skills are a pre-requisite.
• Successful track record of working in a team environment
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize activities effectively,
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
