Salary: $2,014 / Month
A full-time position in the Financial Aid/Veteran Affairs Department. Duties include but are not limited to:

* Performs day-to-day coordination and delivery of services for one or more local, state or federal financial aid program(s).

* Exercises initiative and independent judgment based on acquired knowledge of program policies, procedures and regulations.

* Counsels students about program requirements, application processes, academic progress requirements, repayment of loans and/or grants funds.

* Prepares various documents to waive or charge tuition/fees and bookstore charges.

* Prepares and approves check requests.

* Enters individual student financial aid file correction to be transmitted to state and/or federal processing center utilizing appropriate software package(s).

* Refers students and staff for assistance appropriately and in accordance with established office policy(ies).

* May process financial aid applications, including tacking document status, auditing required documents to verify accuracy, completeness and compliance with local, state and federal regulations and policies.

* May monitor student progress for compliance with the Standards of Academic Progress Policy and review student appeals to determine continued eligibility.

* May supervise part-time student workers.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

* Associate’s degree or equivalent plus two years of financial aid experience or related experience in financial aid program coordination or graduation of high school or equivalent plus four years of financial aid experience or related experience in financial aid program coordination.

* Ability to perform routine data entry and effectively explain defined processes and regulations.

* Ability to utilize computer technology in order to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others.

* Oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

* A criminal background check will be conducted. Bilingual (English/Spanish) applicants are encouraged to apply.
